As the year began yesterday, I rejoiced in the word that God crowns your year with His goodness, and His paths drip with abundance, typical of Psalm 65:11.
This goodness — one must note — that it is not their own but God’s: HIS. Your goodness is not as His. Yours falls short. Just like His ways are higher, His goodness as well is higher and so it must or should exceed our expectations abundantly. It should exceed what we ask or think.
And this is the kind God’s crowning your year with!
Now as I took a nap today, He reminded me of Psalms 21:3; For You meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.
He meets you with blessings! Just as you carry a drink or gift to the friend you are visiting, God prepares a blessing every time you come to meet Him. Every secret place time; He’s meeting you with a different blessing. And though each is different, all comprise of goodness!
This excited me to jump out of bed and go meet Him. For behind His back, His arm hid, carrying a box with a bow on it! And just to imagine that every time I go to see Him this is His posture, I am overwhelmed.
This must be the reward He says He gives to those that diligently seek Him: the reward of a reward every time you draw nigh. Blessed be Him who daily loads us with benefits. Benefits of goodness; every time we approach His throne and sit at the mercy seat!
No wonder the fathers of old say, one should not strangle the urge to pray when it comes. With it comes a goodie!
The Amplified version says, ‘For You send blessings of good things to meet him;’ I picture Him sending you a limousine to pick you up for a date, and once you sit in, all manner of pastries and wines and chocolates await just to set you into the banqueting mood.
… Or if He was to pick you at the airport; and He sends His driver to accompany you with the first starters of goodies, as He ensures the full feast comes of age back home before you arrive!
Won’t you now run to meet Him?
Won’t you now open His law to delight in it?
Blessings of HIS goodness await at attention to meet you! He met Abraham with a child and a covenant. He met Ruth with a husband again. He met David with a throne. He met Jacob with a nation. He met Paul with revelation.
I wonder what He’ll meet you with!
