Genesis 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which [is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
What does it mean to possess something. The definition of the word possess is; To have; or to have ownership of. It could also mean to have control over a specific item.
In our theme scripture, this literally meant enemy countries…but you see God is sharp enough not to leave out any kind of enemies. He included them all!
What are some of your enemies today as a child of God? Disease, poverty, sin, laziness, condemnation, fear, slander, lack, etc. You can list all your personal enemies. Today’s blog will show you how much power you have over these!
In the days of yore, cities were built with a large wall around them. This meant that one city had either one main entrance or a few. If it was under siege, or was going to be captured, the enemies could just round up the gates, stopping the trade & transportation in and out the city!
If food was without the city, and say it had to be brought in, the members of the city could easily surrender, just to be able to access the food coming from outside.
The enemies could use food as a bargaining point in exchange for rulership over that city. It’s different for you. God blest you that you could have rulership over your enemies’ city by possessing their gates (like the theme scripture states)
Imagine you’ve locked up the gates of the city of poverty. Imagine you’ve laid siege over the metropolis of disease. The walls were as high as 60 metres making it hard even for the inhabitants to climb over.
Imagine poverty not being able to climb over the walls because you’ve locked it up within it’s very same walls. Imagine disease contained in its own realm such that it can’t come out and sicken you!
That’s what the scripture is stating! It declares that your seed will possess the gates. This means many things. One; your offspring. Two; your fruit! You can’t have seed without a fruit. This can also mean, your fruit shall possess the gates of your enemies.
Your fruit can be your work. The work of your hands! The laying on of your hands is a work. Laying your hands upon someone means you’ll be able to possess the gates of disease over that person, making the disease have no power over them but rendered helpless.
You have power over condemnation. You have power over fear. Arise, take authority and lock up the gates of each of their cities. You can declare that your body is a disease free zone! Why? The keys to the kingdom of disease you have, and you can choose to lock up the gates of that realm.
All these of course will try to get out! But let this matter settle in your head; your enemies are at your mercy!
Just like we can close those gates by what we say, do we can choose to open those same gates by speech; by confessing negativity & sickness
Declare only what God has said about you. Meditate on the truth that you have besieged ALL your enemies!
Show them no mercy!
Luke 10:19 Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.
